1) Spend some time each day reading, writing, or both. It helps you in terms of vocabulary, and you'll see that in the long run you won't confuse 'this' with 'these' like some people tend to after reaching a certain level.
2) Never stop learning. Life in itself is a school. Take a class, go for holiday seminars or lectures, go camping, or acquire a new skill. The only time learning should stop is when you're in the grave.
3) Tackle puzzling challenges. Those crossword puzzles, scrabble and the likes which you've been ignoring, now is the time to familiarize yourself with them.
4) Play memory games, board games, card games, or video games. They help strengthen your attention level and prevent gradual memory loss.
5) Take on a new hobby that requires you to focus. It could be a dance session, or a craft. Never lose your focus in anything.
6) Listen to music. From sensational to soul-moving and spirits-lifting music, make sure your ears are always attuned to the sound of music. Music has proven a lot of health benefits to not only the mind but also the brain.
7) Exercise regularly. Make a schedule that you can follow strictly. Don't skip the workout days.
8) Avoid junk food. Eat well. Make sure you get the essential nutrients from the food you eat. Don't contemplate going on a 'diet' in order to shed weight. You might end up gaining too much weight, which is bad for your health.
9) Drink plenty of water. You can never get enough water. It aids the circulation of blood in the body, and also helps in keeping your brain active.
10) Sleep well, At least 8 hours of sleep should be targeted. It rests your brain and keeps you refreshed.
