SIGNS TO PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDNEY
The kidneys are a pair of bean shaped organs that are responsible for filtration of blood, removal of wastes, control’s blood fluid balance and keep the level of electrolytes in the body normal. The kidney has millions of tiny nephrons in it. The kidney being a delicate organ can be affected by kidney Stones, Polycystic Kidney Disease, Acute Renal Failure, Chronic Renal Failure, End Stage Renal Disease, etc.
When the kidney is affected, you begin to experience some symptoms until it becomes complicated, hence; we need to be aware of these symptoms to rectify them immediately.
1) FATIGUE
When you kidney is affected, you get tired all the time. Healthy kidneys make a hormone called erythropoietin (EPO) which directs the body on when to make red blood cells but when the kidney is affected, the EPO production is reduced and this will in turn reduce the amount of red blood cells produced hence your muscle and brain becomes tired quickly.
2) TROUBLE THINKING CLEARLY
When anemia occurs as a result of the kidney being affected, the amount of oxygen that reaches the brain is reduced thus leading to memory and concentration problem.
3) SWOLLEN HANDS OR FEET
When the kidney fails, it is no longer able to remove extra fluid from the body hence those fluids begins to accumulate in the legs, ankles feet or hands.
