HOW TO STOP SNORING
There is nothing worse than being woken up by a loud snorer, Not only do you miss out on your own beauty sleep, but it might cause issues in your relationship.
1) CHANGE YOUR SLEEPING POSITION
Lying on your back can make the base of your tongue and soft palate collapse to the wall of your throat, causing a vibrating sound (snoring) to alleviate this, try sleeping on your side. Keeping your head elevated can also help the problem - though this can cause neck pain for some people so is often not suitable.
2) QUIT THE BAD STUFF
Cutting out smoking and drinking not only improve your general health, but it can also help with your snoring. Even if you can’t cut out the booze completely, you should try not to drink for four hours before you hit the hay.
3) KEEP NASAL PASSAGES CLEAR
If you suffer from allergies or are suffering from a cold, your nasal passages will be congested and this could contribute to snoring. Try having a hot shower before bed, or steaming your face, to open things up and help you breathe easier.
4) ANTI SNORING RING
Placed on the little finger - this device is meant to use pressure points to stop the person snoring. We actually tried this and reports from the partner camp was that it did cut down snoring to simply ‘heavy breathing’ - which is a lot better NOW.
5) NASAL STRIPS
The aim of nasal strips is to pull the nostrils apart from the outside, making it easier to breathe through them. You may find this useful if you think the source of your snoring is coming from your nose.
6) THROAT STRIPS
Applied to the roof of the mouth, these throat strips work by toning and lubricating the soft tissue in your throat to prevent snoring. We didn’t have much luck with this type of remedy - but that could because of the specific type of snoring we are experiencing.
7) MOUTH PIECES
Mouth pieces that look a lot like retainers can be used to keep the jaw forward during sleep, making sure the airway remains open.
8) THROAT & NASAL SPRAYS
These work by easing the flow of breath, while also working to stop the soft pallet vibrations that can cause snoring.
